Oki Language Project

Objective:

To create thriving and proud Indigenous communities for future generations by focusing on our history, language and culture. Language defines the culture & identity of a people -- each word a repository of stories containing ancient knowledge and meaning.

Oki Language Project will collect an audio and video library of Indigenous language greetings of Turtle Island (USA) and share Elders’ stories about the meaningful act of welcoming another human being. Accessible to all, these stories will honour the original peoples of the lands we occupy and visit today.

The Regeneration Generation's Role:

The Regeneration Generation /SRI is proud to serve on the founding board of the Oki Language Project, supporting its vital mission to revitalize Indigenous languages and cultures, especially with strategic development advisory. We provide opportunities to amplify the voice of its founder Eugene Brave Rock, whom we have been honored to bring to several United Nations conferences, and we are honored to include his voice in The Regeneration Generation film and global campaign.

Global Scale:
We are scaling this initiative globally to support Indigenous communities in protecting and revitalizing their languages, stories, cultural practices, and medicinal knowledge. Through legal frameworks and regenerative strategies, Indigenous-led teams are empowered to document and steward their heritage for future generations—leveraging cutting-edge technology, AI, and media. This work ensures communities retain ownership and agency, while creating powerful pathways for partnership, innovation, and long-term impact.

Creative Ways to Support:

The Regeneration Generation / SRI contributes through fundraising and artistic initiatives, including the auction of powerful portraits by  Indrani Pal‑Chaudhuri — such as this historic image of Eugene Brave Rock wearing the cultural threads of his traditional ceremonial attire on the cover of the DTK Men – Freedom Issue (circa 2017–2018), marking the first time an Indigenous man graced the cover of a mainstream Canadian fashion magazine.
